Instead of an annuity, my wife and I put the money in PRHYX for $3200 worth of income monthly

I agree, James Bond, I am also a tad surprised why it is dropping, since interest rate drops result in increase in bond prices. This fund is closed to new investors to minimize dramatic withdrawals and fund influxes, which increases volatility. I suspect that the problem may simply be the withdrawal of enough funds by existing investors that the fund must liquidate some of its holdings. But even that doesn’t make sense, since the bonds should all be higher. The other possibility is a serious erosion of some of the bonds. Since this is a “junk bond” fund, I dont think they have to get rid of lower grade bonds due to downgrading, like other portfolios may have to do. Yes, I am puzzled. Looking at their holdings, they are also sufficiently diversified, which should also minimize such a drop. Still, relative to stocks, we’re only talking about a few percentage points. Sorry for my thought stream.

I use this as my “money market fund” for parking cash. Generates 4-6 % cash flow, but I purchase carefully, because bond prices subject to mild volatility (compared to stocks), but are less relevant if you buy and hold. The dividends keep coming and beat money markets over the longer term.

This is an income fund. It usually follows the S&P index; however the past two years it has not. It pays a 5.5% yield and this is difficult to find. It does have market risk

Other than poor investing does anyone know why this fund dropped bad yesterday. I have other Bonds that did not do this. I can't find anything or comments on this.
